Why This Matters to Me

My grandfather's story shaped my entire life. He grew up in Michigan's foster care system after losing his mother as an infant. Bounced from home to home, he faced abuse and hunger—but he never gave up.

At just 17 years old, my grandfather lied about his age and enlisted in the Navy. It wasn't just an escape—it was his lifeline. In the military, he found structure, purpose, and opportunity. He became a corpsman, met my grandmother, discovered a love of travel, and gained the social skills that gave him hope for a better future.

But the transition back to civilian life nearly broke him. He'd never finished 8th grade, could barely read and write, and faced rejection after rejection from employers. The skills that made him invaluable to the Navy—leadership, discipline, resilience—didn't translate on a resume.

Then everything changed. My grandfather persevered, eventually landing a job as an insurance agent. Against all odds, he rose to become one of the most successful State Farm agents in history. He proved that with opportunity and support, anyone can thrive.

Today, the challenges facing veterans are even more extreme. In an age where AI is rapidly replacing jobs, our service members need more support than ever. They've sacrificed years of their lives. They come home with incredible skills, unshakeable character, and proven leadership. They deserve more than a warm handshake and a pat on the back.

That's why I'm supporting Allegiant Vets. This mission isn't about charity—it's about justice.

The 2026 L5 Investments Capital Cup

A Tournament with Purpose

The Capital Cup adapts the historic Ryder Cup format to bring Sacramento together for healthy competition and meaningful philanthropy. Over three days of world-class golf, business leaders compete in teams for more than bragging rights—they're competing to raise money for the causes they care about most.

Every dollar raised goes directly to veterans' transitions through Allegiant Vets. The Capital Cup has a proven track record: over its history, it has raised more than $20 million for the Sacramento region's most deserving charities.

This year, the winning team's designated charities will share a prize fund of $100,000.

I'm proud to be competing in this tournament on behalf of Allegiant Vets. Your donation isn't just supporting my team—it's directly enabling veterans to receive the training, credentials, and employment connections they need to transition successfully and build meaningful careers.
